It's just over a week after Open Streets Langa and we are still buzzing from all of the positive feedback and media coverage. We can't say it enough THANK YOU for being there either in flesh or in spirit. You have told us loud and clear more! And so the work to grow Open Streets continues. This week we have two important presentations to the City of Cape Town. We hope to get their continued support for seed funding to build Open Streets but they want to know for sure that Cape Town wants this. Now, more than ever, we need to show them that we have your support.
Currently, almost all of our direct funding is provided by the City of Cape Town. However, as we all know, there are many pressing issues that require government resources; therefore, in order to grow the Open Streets movement, we all need to contribute.
We have felt incredible community generosity towards Open Streets, in the form of a wide range of in-kind support (ranging from volunteer time to legal advice!). We will be reflecting the value of these contributions as accurately as we can when we present to the City.
Please consider making a donation. It costs money to run our campaigns, work properly in partnership, do the road closure, keep it safe and clean with security, traffic staff, barriers. These are our biggest expenses. While we have two full time staff members (Marcela and Rebecca), everyone else who works for Open Streets is a volunteer.
So please, open your hearts (and your wallets!)
Personal and individual donations are greatly appreciated, but we are also looking to those larger more established businesses who share in the Open Streets vision and may want to partner with us through one of their social investment programmes. Please contact us directly if you or someone you know has a particular interest in long-term partnership, so that we can explore any opportunities.
At the moment we can only take donations in two ways, via EFT (please confirm firstname.lastname@example.org) or in person (contact our office at 75 Harrington Street if you wish to do that).

P.P.S We welcome connections and ideas for further fundraising or cost reduction.
