We recently announced that Open Streets Main Road will happen again on Sunday 25 February, following the first successful car-free corridor created during Transport Month this year. We invite you to join this Talking Streets walk on 20 January as part of the preparation for the big day.
We will discuss how Open Streets could be a platform to highlight some of the challenges of streets in the area, rather than just being a once-off event. We will walk from Woodstock Town Hall to Cornerstone Institute in Salt River.
This edition of Talking Streets follows on from two previous walks in Woodstock. On 14 November we played a role-play game focused on the affordable housing sites and other commercial developments near Trafalgar Park (with Young Urbanists and EcoDistricts), and on 25 November we discussed options for universal design along Albert Road (with NOAH and UDAfrica).
Also in January, we are holding an Open Streets Indaba to open up a space for feedback and input on the Open Streets programme in general, and help improve the plans for the repeat of Open Streets Main Road. Talking Streets will be a great opportunity to expand on the discussion points raised at the Indaba, particularly how these relate to Main Road.
To confirm your spot for Talking Streets, RSVP here by Friday 12 January 2018
