If that sounds rather cryptic, here?s what we mean. Friday is International PARK(ing) Day (http://parkingday.org), which is when people in cities around the world find alternative uses for on-street parking bays. So our office for the day will be in a parking bay outside Lola?s Restaurant at number 228 Long Street (near the top of Long street, at the intersection with Buiten Street). And we would love our friends to come and experience the street in a new way. Sort of like Open Streets that was held on Lower Main Road on 25 May, only smaller. (much, much smaller!)
You are invited to join us anytime during the day. Either just come and say hi, or set up your own bay for as long as you wish. For ideas, follow the link to Park(ing) Day. And please email, tweet or post on Facebook about it, and let?s see how many bays we can occupy. It?s fun, honest.
All you need to do to join is set up your very own mini park / office / sandbox / lounge / you-name-it in a parking bay.
BONUS ACTIVITY: One more thing. Come to our street office at 13:00, and we?ll have a little urban adventure for whoever turns up.
*The chair is optional, but feel free to bring anything that will fit in the space of a parking bay, so that drivers can see that the space is occupied.
