The #AtoBChallenge is an Open Streets initiative to encourage the public to move differently around the city by using either non-motorised (bicycle, skateboard or walking) or public (minibus taxi, bus or train) transport.
Through this initiative we hope to encourage people to use these more sustainable types of transport, and to raise awareness about low-carbon transport more broadly.
To take up the #AtoBChallenge, you simply have to follow the steps below:
- Take a picture of yourself commuting to Open Streets Mitchells Plain on 25 March on your chosen mode of transport (a video’s even better!)
- Post your picture on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram with the hashtag #AtoBChallenge and tag @OpenStreetsCT (Twitter) or @OpenStreetsCapeTown (Facebook, Instagram). Make sure to follow/like first so we can see your post.
- Tell us about your experience in person when you get to Open Streets Mitchells Plain. We will be awaiting for you with a little present at the Open Streets Info Booth
You will stand a chance to win a #Bike4All bicycle as well as hampers sponsored by Liberty Promenade.
You can also take up the #AtoBChallenge by taking part in the organised walking bus or bike bus to Open Streets Mitchells Plain. Both ‘buses’ are a fun and healthy way of getting there. The meeting point for the walking bus is the Mitchells Plain Town Centre (taxi/bus terminus). The bike bus will start across the road from Palmyra Junction in Claremont (look out for the #AtoBChallenge flag).
