I love streets and seeing people enjoying themselves in streets. Its energising to meet and work with a community of people (Open Streets) who share my passion and who are going out there to make a difference.
Cape Town is one of the most beautiful cities in the world but at the same time is one of the most divided. Our streets form the living arteries of the city and bring life and energy to what would be empty spaces without people. The way we design, use and think about streets will determine how successful we are at transforming our city into a place for everyone to enjoy and prosper. Open Streets presents a vision of what we could become as a society. It should be a vision we all share and work towards.

Marco is passionate about cities. He firmly believes that our collective future will be determined by the way societies, everywhere in the world, build better cities for all to live in. Marco a professional urban designer with qualifications in architecture, urban design and town planning and is a registered Professional Architect and Professional Planner. He has over 10 years experience and has worked in both the private and public sector. He is currently employed as an urban designer in the Spatial Planning and Urban Design department at the City of Cape Town.
